At Peripheral Vision International I'm responsible for the production of Wanji - interactive audio games which use basic telephony to deliver educational messages on topics such as health, agriculture, gender-based violence, and climate change. Wanji has reached over 6 million callers in 20 countries; is used by partners including GIZ, Oxfam, and UNICEF; is available in multiple languages; and is free of charge for users to access.
In 2022 I worked on BRAC Girls Talk - a partnership between Peripheral Vision International, BRAC Uganda, and Viamo. The project is a digital version of BRAC’s Empowerment and Livelihoods for Adolescents programme, and uses the Wanji format to deliver educational and empowerment programming to adolescent girls and young women through spoken audio. BRAC Girls Talk piloted in 2022, and was scaled up across Uganda via Airtel's 1-6-1 service in 2023. The below images were taken by me at the launch event in Kayunga:
